APPLICATION TO HOLD CERAMAH INSIDE IPK AMPANG JAYA REJECTED!

It is very regrettable that the Ampang Jaya OCPD had refused me the permission to address the police personnel at the IBU PEJABAT POLIS DAERAH AMPANG JAYA and the BALAI POLIS PANDAN INDAH.

In a verbal reply to our application to hold a small CERAMAH at the two places, ACP Abdul Jalil Hasan informed my election agent, HAJI MEOR RITHUAN MOHD. SAID, on 28th February 2008 that he had received orders from his superior ( maybe the Selangor Police Chief or even the IGP ) to turn down my request. No reason whatsoever was given why the permission was not given.

The personnel although are postal voters are registered voters. They must be given the right to listen to the arguments of all parties. At moment, they are only exposed to the BN’s side of the story through the BN’s television and radio propagandas.

PAS and other opposition parties must be given the right to conduct CERAMAH inside the police stations as no policeman nor policewoman would dare to attend ( or harass ) an opposition’s CERAMAH unless those instructed to monitor the event.

IMAGES OF A PAS' FUNCTION IN PANDAN INDAH BEING HARASSED BY THE POLICE.

"Jangan datang dekat, kalau tidak kami ambil gambar kamu" (Don't come near or we'll photograph you) - Maybe that was what this SB was thinking. A police photographer in action. Things they do just to please UMNO!

What a waste of petrol? Why don't they go and catch some Alongs! What about the killer of Nurul Jazlyn? So much money and time spent to shadow the opposition parties, "SO WHERE GOT TIME TO CATCH THE CRIMINALS".

The Pandan Indah KETUA BALAI taking down the names of the VIP attending the function. Would they do this in an UMNO function. "WITH PAS, THEIR SO LANSI MAA". So if people don't respect the cops anymore, I don't blame them. They have become a mere tool of UMNO.

"Jangan datanglah, itu PAS punya program, nanti kami tangkap" (DON'T COME NEAR, THAT IS A PAS' PROGRAMME, OR WE WILL ARREST YOU) - Could that be the message to the residents wanting to attend the function on 27th January 2008.

THE ORANG UTAN WEARS A BACKYARD ROLEX

I was really shocked today when watching the 8 o’clock TV3 news.

As usual that man that used to be the Minister of Information (remember the Parliament has already been dissolved …… maybe a caretaker Minister of Information or Disinformation depending on which side of the fence you are) was at his usual self, hammering PAS like a man possessed. But this was not unusual, it did not shock me. A cow would eat grass, you won’t be shocked seeing a cow munching grass by the roadside.

What really shocked me was that he was talking (or shouting) at an event called “MAJLIS PENERANGAN PILIHANRAYA KEMENTERIAN PENERANGAN”, an official government’s function, not a BN function. This means that the air-con, lighting, carpets, seats and maybe food & drinks were being paid by the RAKYAT.

Can you do that? Using the RAKYAT’s money to HENTAM the RAKYAT, PAS members are part of the RAKYAT too.

Last Friday the MB, here I go again ….. caretaker MB, of Selangor was on Radio Selangor explicitly asking the voters in Sekichan where DAP won the state seat or ADUN in 2004 ( he was talking at the PELANCARAN KELUARGA BESTARI SEKICHAN ) to vote for the BN on the 8th of March.

Again my question is, “Can you do that?”. RTM is being funded by taxpayers’ money which include the party members of the oppositions. So can you use “DUIT RAKYAT” to HENTAM the RAKYAT?

So this is one Minister, oops Ex-Minister, and a caretaker MB that have no respect for the law. I wonder what law they understand. Maybe the law of the jungle? So why all this fuss about the ORANG UTAN?

My main concern is that the ORANG UTAN would protest for equating them with that you know who. I’ve seen a lot of documentaries and films about ORANG UTANS, they may look vicious but I am sure they respect each other.

Maybe I’ve had a bout of amnesia, I should have realised Malaysia is not a democracy. It is just a pseudo-democracy. To compare Malaysia with any real democracy, Indonesia and Thailand are much more advanced in terms democratic rights, is like comparing a genuine Rolex with an imitation Petaling Street’s Rolex. Our democracy is just a backyard Rolex ….

AWAS PERANCANGAN JAHAT HALANG BA BERTANDING.....

- mks.

FIFA RANKING & THE BILIK GERAKAN UMNO

I heard in the news last week that Malaysia has dropped again in the FIFA ranking. We are now behind Pakistan and the Seychelles!

I am not surprised as football is now only a tool for the BN politicians to further their political ambitions. Just count the number of UMNO and other BN leaders in the committee of the football associations of the various states. Football is no longer important but the promotion of certain inviduals is!

Furthermore, the number of fields where football could be played has decreased. Whether it is the land hungry developer wanting to build condominiums or an arrogant KETUA UMNO CAWANGAN needing a BILIK GERAKAN, playgrounds and fields continue to disappear at an alarming rate.

In Pandan Indah, there used to be a wide open space near Block AM behind the DEWAN MPAJ but suddenly a so-called DEWAN ORANG RAMAI sprouted. During its construction, a signboard was put up. According to it, it was the construction of a DEWAN ORANG RAMAI with the blessing of the PEJABAT DAERAH HULU LANGAT. Although it is in the middle of a childrens' playground maybe the RAKYAT could benefit from its construction. But today, a sign is posted at its entrance, UMNO CAWANGAN KENCANA PANDAN INDAH.

So what happened to the ORANG RAMAI? Do you mean that you have to be an UMNO member to be an ORANG RAMAI? What about those not members of UMNO? They pay their taxes too!

To me, this is some sort of a daylight robbery. It is a blatant act of taking away what is supposed to be meant for the RAKYAT. But this is UMNO. They have absolutely no respect for the RAKYAT.

FLASHBACK - Resident Association Protest Against Parking Charges

PANDAN INDAH, 1 DECEMBER 2007 – The resident association of Talam Business Park in Pandan Indah is against the parking charges at their area.

According to them, the gantry system to be employed would discourage people from coming to the park and they would loose many customers.

The rate, RM1 per hour, is more expensive than the rest of Pandan Indah of only 50 sen per hour. Furthermore there is also a charge after 5 pm and on Sundays which would further deter people.

A press conference was held on 30th November with the head of PAS Pandan, Iskandar Abdul Samad, and DAP Teratai’s Jenice Lee Ying Ha attending to show their support for the residents.

Iskandar also wrote to the Menteri Besar of Selangor calling for his intervention as the parking operator did not look too keen to negotiate with the residents.

MPAJ STILL ASLEEP?

On 18th December 2007, I wrote a letter to the Yang Dipertua of the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) concerning the request from the residents of Pandan Indah near the Balai Bomba Pandan Indah for MPAJ to build an overhead pedestrian bridge linking their homes to the Padang Perbandaran Ampang Jaya.

A press conference was called on 19th December 2007 and the event was reported by 5 newspapers (2 Chinese, 2 Malay and 1 English).

At the moment, the residents have to cross the busy 6-lane Jalan Pandan Utama to get to the park. Children find it very difficult to get to the park in the late afternoon and evening as this road is often busy during that time. It is during this time that they usually go to the park for their sporting and recreational activities. Senior citizens also find it difficult to get across.

Apart from that, schoolchildren living around the park need to cross the road to get to their schools at Jalan Pandan Ilmu.

Two residents, a child and a senior citizen, had been knocked down by the passing traffic but only escaped with injuries. The senior citizen, however, needs the help of a walking stick to move around ever since the accident.

In my letter, I suggested to the MPAJ that if they need more time to build the overhead bridge, they could provide a pedestrian crossing controlled by traffic lights as a temporary measure.

However, until today the MPAJ has yet to reply to my letter. I am not at all surprised as it is an open secret that it is the worst local council in Selangor if not in Malaysia.

It seems that the lives of almost 2,000 residents are not important to them.

Is it because this request was made through PAS that the MPAJ has yet to act?

This is the main problem with MPAJ. There are too much political interventions. Under MPAJ, political considerations would override the needs of the rakyat.

We are told that contracts are being awarded not based on merit but political or family connections. As a result of this, the services provided to the rakyat are below par. The works are shoddy.

Therefore, it is not a wonder that so many had defaulted on their cukai pintu.

MEET THE PEOPLE SESSION IN KG. PANDAN

A meet the people session was organised by the PAS' Election Committee for Lorong Bersih & Lorong Molek, Kg. Pandan.

The event was in conjunction with the opening of the Lorong Molek & Lorong Bersih PAS’ Operation Centre.

Iskandar Abdul Samad of PAS DUN Chempaka attended the event.

In his speech, he urged the committee to visit every house in their area and explain to every voter why they should be voting for PAS in the next election.

He also hoped that the committee would also be concerned on the welfare of the people rather than only concentrating in the election campaigning.

This is line with PAS’ intention of creating “a nation that cares” or “negara berkebajikan” for Malaysia.

THE INVASION OF THE BILLBOARDS

Do you know that there are almost 30 billboards along the MRR2 from Ampang Point to the Cheras Baru roundabout?

This is probably the most number of billboards along any stretch of road or highway in Malaysia!
Some of these billboards are are almost 30 metres high. Some are only a few metres away from the nearest row of houses. There is one within the compound of a school, the Sekolah Kebangsaan Cheras Indah and another one just outside the fence of the sekolah agama in Jalan F, Kg. Pandan.

Last year a billboard at the MRR2 near Taman Kencana had collapsed during heavy rain but luckily it fell into Sg. Kerayong. Just imagine what would happened if it had fallen onto the MRR2! I am sure that there would be fatalities.

Therefore, I am urging the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) to revoke the permits or licenses, if any, given for these billboards.

There had been many disasters in Ampang Jaya like the Highland Tower tragedy, the two landslides in Hulu Kelang and another landslide in Kg. Cheras Baru where many lives had been lost. MPAJ must ensure that these billboards would not be the cause of another tragedy.

If just a single billboard collapses onto several packed classrooms, maybe as high as 100 fatalities would be recorded. It had collapsed once before and there is no guarantee that such incident would not be repeated.

The billboard that collapsed into Sg. Kerayong last year was built without MPAJ's permission. The Biro Pengaduan Awam in replying to my query on the matter confirmed this.

So what happened to the MPAJ's enforcement officers that are often harsh and merciless with the traders of pasar malam and squatters like those in Kg. Berembang? Maybe the Anti Corruption Agency should step in now!

There are also billboards that are empty, that is without any advertising for quite some time. These billboards must be dismantled immediately.

WHAT IS THE TRUE ROLE OF THE POLICE?

"I believe that the police should focus their effort in fighting crime and not harassing the opposition parties (seen here disturbing Dato' Dr. Hassan Ali's ceramah in Kg. Pandan on 29th January 2008)"

PAS ORGANSISES FREE HEALTH CHECK-UP IN TAMAN CAHAYA INDAH - 20 JAN 2008

DIALOGUE WITH THE INDIAN COMMUNITY IN PANDAN INDAH - 27 JAN 2008.

OFFERED RM25K TO "CLOSE ONE EYE"

"I was once offered a bribe of RM25,000 to approve a work by a building contractor I had rejected", said Iskandar Samad, 47, the head of PAS in Pandan.

According him, this happened when he was involved with a government project in Kuala Lumpur.

"Corruption in the building industry is rampant like anywhere else in this country and the rakyat is losing billions of ringgit because of this".

"A supplier or contractor would need to top up the cost of a project that they tendered to include the "kickbacks" demanded by many parties".

"As a result of this, the cost of a project would increase unnecessarily and this extra cost would be passed on to the rakyat".

Iskandar had been involved with numerous prestigious projects in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya since he graduated with a degree in Architecture from the United Kingdom in 1988. A former student of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar which has produced statesmen like Sultan Azlan Shah, Tun Razak and Anwar Ibrahim, he had also worked in the United Kingdom upon graduating.

"The RM25,000 offered was not the only time I had been illegally offered money. Corruption had almost become a way of life in Malaysia and it is almost impossible to eradicate it as it is widespread even at the very top".

"All we see are just the ikan bilis being dragged to court while the real culprits are left untouched".

"Allegations of corruption had been made against several Ministers, Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers but we have yet to see any prosecution or serious investigation by the Anti Corruption Agency".

"It is not surprising that Malaysia's corruption index ranking in a report by Transparency International Corruption Index (CPI) continued to spiral downwards from 37 in 2003, 39 in 2004 & 2005 to 43 in 2007".

"A strong opposition is required in Parliament and the State Assemblies to ensure that the interests of the rakyat are being protected, Barisan Nasional must be denied the 2/3 majority", said Iskandar who is very concerned about the future of Malaysia.

Iskandar who is also PAS' Deputy Commissioner for Selangor has led PAS in Pandan since 2003 and is very vocal on issues concerning the rakyat.

Apart from corruption, as a father he is very alarmed at the escalation of serious crimes in our community.

The tragic deaths of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin and Presheena Varshiny worried him because he also has a young daughter. He feels that more should have been done to ensure the security of the rakyat. The police should be allowed to focus their resources in combating serious crimes instead of shadowing the opposition parties.

To ensure the welfare of the rakyat is not being overlooked, Iskandar had assisted PAS in setting up a community service centre in Cempaka. This centre receives complaints from the rakyat that would then be channeled to the relevant authorities.

The centre also provides legal advice and organises motivational courses for schoolchildren.

Iskandar hopes that the motivational courses would encourage them to achieve academic excellence. He believes that education is one of the keys to future success. He believes that every citizen must have an equal opportunity in education.
